Default Grado SR80 reviews

The Grado SR80s are open diaphragm dynamic headphones with a quoted frequency response of 20hz to 20khz and drivers matched to within .1dB.

Quality - 9

Straight out of the box these 'phones feel super lightweight but very sturdy at the same time. Putting them on it feels like you're wearing nothing, they are almost completely transparent.

Frequency response is exceptionally flat, after wearing them in. Compared to almost any other headphones i've monitored through, these offer incredible detailed reproduction. I actually prefer mixing on these than I do on my monitors at the moment.

They can take some pretty high SPL. My rugged Koss enclosed headphones (now retired) distort where the Grados are still going strong. Also, they feel very sensitive to input. On other headphones I sometimes feel that even when the levels are dimed, I'm not hearing the volume I want to hear.

Reliability - 7

It's a bit disappointing that the jack seems intermittent.. I guess it happens a lot with 1/8" jacks. I only get sound through one channel sometimes unless I move the jack around to get it sitting right. I haven't contacted Grado about this, I might just replace it myself.

Overall
- 8

High quality headphones. I'll definately buy from Grado again. Great product.
