Audio Technica ATH-AD700
Got a new deck, a three tape switchbox and new fones today.
They are comfy, but have spring-loaded pads instead of an adjustable headband. Like all headphones, you try cupping them closer to the head and they do sound good.
I just went through a lot of music(LP, tape, and digital) and I was wondering about the reviewers that suggested they lack a little bass. The CD James Gang Yer Album sounds just great, but it did on the crappier fones, too.
I don't have much classical here, but I do have the Telarc Firebird. That recording dispels any notion that they lack bass. It's just so few music offerings today are mixed properly. A Denon cello work came yesterday and it sounds good (why they put a piano in there is beyond me).
My reference Sheffield Labs stuff sounds very good.
I can trust these headphones. With my Yamaha and Tascam fones I had to bend the wire hangers overhead to get them to cup closer - I may do that with these also (probably). Ha !! I just hesitate to bend something brand new.
Tone wise, they may require a break-in period.
