No there won't. Not if my computer has never been on the internet and I only have Cubase SX3, plugins, and cd burning software installed.

I know that Windows is a haven for stored files in caches and things of that sort. This is why I format my computers regularly. However, I this problem is 10 billion times worse with internet rigs than with standard recording. All the files I record go into a that band's directory. I'm positive that Windows isn't storing wav files. If it were, I'd run out of hard drive space in a few months.

My paying job is as a software engineer working in the financial sector and spend my working life with bodged up bits of software usually ported from UNIX and delievered to windows without any real care. When something new comes out something we have been using usually falls over. So when I get home its switch on the Mac and make music and don't wory about if its going to work or not.

Windows can be for those who like to tinker, yes you can open the box (and replace the noisy super cheap far eastern fan), yes you can get cheap software and components but cost up like for like and a PC for real recording will cost just as much as a Mac.

I played the guitar for years I have worked on PC's for years (mainframes before that) but until I got my Mac 2 years ago I had never been inspired to plug the guitar in and record now I cant stop.

Windows isn't a virus any more than Mac OS is. the problem is everyone uses PCs' this makes the target for people who create viruses tend to target PCs' Q: Why target 1% of the population? Sun microsystems has an OS too. I am pretty sure they aren't targeted either! Linux hasn't been targeted to speak of either! My point is.... Why pay WAY more money for something that you are limitted to WAY less options for software and hardware compatability. My recording PC isn't online for more than 1 or 2 downloads when I need them. I have owned over 70 PCs' over an 11 year period and have only gotten viruses when I knew I was taking the risk of getting one. I have heard that there are 3 new viruses out that only affect MAC systems. I am not sure if this is true.... Maybe microsoft did it LOL....

I completely agree and the popularity of Windows cannot be denied, but can this be attributed to quality and greater chioce of software or just the ability to get software not just cheap but free (and I don't wish to insult anyone here's integrity with that comment but I know I've "tried out" a copy of MS Office before I brought it). Besides what could be a better starter for recording then Garageband and that comes free with the package (Limited I know but has got me from nowhere to recording, editing and podcasting live events)
At the end of the day you pay your money and take your chioce, I'm sure the great performers don't give a hoot if their music is recorded on Mac or PC they just let the great music do the talking.

The thing is... There are about 5 times the amount of good programs available for PC than there are for MAC. My number 1 reason I want windows right now is.... Adobe audition 3.0. although it says: (certified support for 32-bit editions only) it works well in my Windows XP Professional x64 machine.
System requirements
Windows®
• Intel® Pentium® 4 (1.4GHz for DV, 3.4GHz for
HDV); Intel Centrino®; Intel Xeon® (dual Xeon
2.8GHz processors for HD); or Intel Core™ Duo or
compatible processor (SSE2-enabled processor
required for AMD systems)
• Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home
Edition with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista®
Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise
(certified support for 32-bit editions only)
• 512MB of RAM (1GB for DV playback, 2GB for HDV
and HD playback)
• 10GB of available hard-disk space (when used
with Loopology DVD)
• DVD drive required for installation
• 1280x900 monitor resolution with 32-bit video
card and 16MB of VRAM
• Microsoft DirectX or ASIO compatible sound card
• QuickTime 7.0 required to use QuickTime
features
• Internet or phone connection required for
product activation

Another point I would like to make is there are emulators for running mac softwrae on PCs' and I have every slot in my PC that any mac has. I have PCI, PCIX and PCIe all on one MOBO. and it screams!

I'm easy if i had a mac i would be happy i have windows i'm still happy.
i have my pc on the internet alot of the time*tick tick tick*! dumb i know but
i have to upload mp3's to this site. so it is a catch 22. but back to the great windows mac debate it's all relative to user experience, everything has a learning curve.
