Heya, I recently replaced my tascam US-428 with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and a Behringer BCF2000. I started using my new setup this morning and noticed clicks on my recordings. I am using Logic Pro on a MacBook with a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo and 2GB Ram. I tried all the normal things, closed down all other programs, switched of 'air-port' increased the buffer, switched off software monitoring and tried muting other tracks. However these would not go. The clicks always seemed to appear at almost exactly the same point in the song (although changing settings would sometimes change where they appeared) When I recorded silence through the mic, no clicks would appear. After being out for a couple of hours I have tried again and now don't get any clicks, however the pro 40 was **** when I left, and It lives beneath my Hifi (Marantz cd6002 and marantz pm6002) so I was wondering even tho there is about a cm gap between the pro 40 and the hifi above it, could overheating have caused the clicks, or any other ideas? I dont want to damage anything or for the clicks to return! Thanks JAmes |

OK, so the clicks reappeared this morn when I was doing some vocals, however they dissapeared when I closed internet explorer, email and switched off air-port (internet on the mac). Weirdly tho, I have come back and recorded now with those on and no problems, i'm confused! I guess what I am asking is, is it likely to be insufficient resources or a problem Interface, if it is an Interface prob then I should send it back, otherwise I'll just have to deal with it I guess. Thanks James |

Do you have another interface, or know someone with a spare interface? If so try it for a couple days, and see if the problem persists. The Macbook with 2 Gig of Ram should be plenty, especially if you are only laying down a couple tracks at a time. I recorded 8 simultaneously yesterday on a dual 2.1 with 4 gig and had no glitches at all, even though there were another 12 tracks with processing running at the same time. |
