Default myspace quality after i upload my song..

Okay so does anyone know howto match up your bounce so that it sounds just as good on myspace...alot of bands do it and it bugs me because i dont know which kbps its mixed down on, and why my song sounds amazing when i bounce it, but when i upload it, it sounds like shit and the mastering properties are all fucked that i did...

Pardon my french, but this has been buggin me for weeks.

thanks!

Hi evan,

Even if you're bouncing straight to mp3 at 320, the myspace player (despite its relatively new look) is probably set to 96. That's sucky streaming quality for you.

I'm pretty sure the bigger the band you are, the more bandwidth/higher the sample rate they allow you.

You can't expect your songs to not get mangled by the Myspace player.
There is no rule that you have to use their player, use something better, something that doesn't reconvert and doesn't take a day for new songs to show up.

The big bands pay to get their songs mastered specifically for Myspace.

Audio Geek,
If you're as geeky as you say, where are the "pro" mastering tips?

Interesting. I'd love to know what the process is that they use (i.e., what kind of fancy EQing they may be doing to optimize playback on MySpace).

Yes, the MySpace player is a necessary evil nowadays. In fact, you could probably argue that many avid MySpace listeners have a different sense of audio sonics. But that's an entirely different discussion on another thread with multitude of beer.

Are you here to just heckle me or is that a serious question?

Have you listened to my podcast episode about myspace mastering?

Thanks for the podcast link. Good stuff. Young ears are adjusting to iPod / MySpace Player sonics, along with severe squashing, to the point where my kids (15 yr old twins) think it sounds normal. It's the way it is. It's true that the younger listeners prefer the sound of 128kpbs mp3s.

Hey GreatBritainPenis, if you're as big of a dick as you say you are, why don't you say something stupid...oh nevermind, you did.

I hate when trolls come in, take a big dump and leave.
