Default In Need Of Help! - First Time Logic User

Hey everyone,
todays is going to be my first day using logic.. i used to use cooledit (adobe audition) up until now..

im going to be recording vocals
sounds from my motif keyboard
and guitar from the pod line 6

...

here is the break down of equipment

Focusrite Saffire LE
Yamaha MG10/2mixer
Mackie Big Knob
Blue Mic.
Safe sound P1 preamp
M-audio mons
Pod Line 6
Yamaha motif es6

..
ok, i turned on logic.. created a new project.. took of that annoying metronome lol.. i went into my setting and changed the ins and outs to my safire.. but everytime i hit record i still hear crazy feedback.. and i cant record sound from my keyboard.. guitar or mic?!

the feedback is coming from my macbook.. and i thought i turned off the mic already!??

i dont know what i need to do to set it up properly??

type: audio
format: mono
input 1 | ascending unchecked (have no idea what that is)
output 1-2 ascending unchecked (have no idea what that is)

input monitoring unchecked (have no idea what that is)
record enabled unchecked (have no idea what that is)

im not looking to do anything fancy.. just trying to record track by track.. ill do all the mixing in adobe for now.. trying to make this transition smooth

thanks guys!!!

Boo is right on, here are the check box explanations....

The ascending check boxes are used when you are recording more than one input at a time and you just want it line up the recording inputs i.e. recording on input 1, 2, 3, 4....

The record enable and monitor check boxes immediately get your track ready to record, so if you have your mic plugged in, have the input set, you can then check these two boxes and go into the DAW. You should then hear the mic on and all you have to do is hit record.

Keep in mind that if you have your mic in the same vicinity as your monitors, make sure to turn them off before recording and monitor the incoming sound through headphones...
