Default Logic Studio

Any one here a Logic user? I'm looking to jump in with the newly released Logic Studio and need some feedback before I drop the cash on it.

Okay, since I'm new I hadn't read some of the other posts re: the limited number of mac users on this forum. Fortunately there's plenty of other good stuff here to stick around. Still fee free to reply if you have heard anything of value about Logic Studio.

I just purchased it last weekend. I'm amazed at its depth, value, and quality. GO for it. However, I am not a pro sound guy--just a long, long time musician with limited recording experience.

That's cool, I'm on the verge of getting it and a friend of mine is getting it this weekend. He's a little concerned of running it all on his macbook so he's maxing out the ram to 2GB. I too am a musician/producer limited computer recording experience, mostly Adobe Audition, but this Logic package just makes it seem hard to resist. Let me know what kind of stuff you're doing or send over some samples...I won't bash them unless you ask.

I upgraded from Logic Express 6 to Logic Express 8 a month or so ago and I've really enjoyed it. I looked very hard at going for the full Studio version but for what I do I just couldn't justify the extra expense...but $99 for the Express upgrade is a FANTASTIC deal.

I have a basic version of Cubase on the same computer. I used to bounce back and forth between Cubase and Logic Express 6 depending on what I wanted too do. I myself didn't find either one more difficult to work with than the other, it's just a matter of learning to get around on them.

Now that Logic Express 8 supports full routing of DFH Superior instead of just a stereo mixdown, I do everything in Logic. I'm a rank amature but I say buy it. For the price you really can't go wrong...and look into getting the Express version as well, check out the features of each...you may find like I did that for half the price Express is all you really need.

Hope this helps some.

I've used Logic seriously for about 7 years. I'm into pro recording by the way. It's an awesome program. If you can commit to learning your way around it, it will serve you in ways you can never imagine!

I feel myself more as musician, but purchased new iMac and Logic Pro 8 to get started. Problem is that it doesn't work with my M-Audia FastTrack Pro Soundcard (designed to support both - PC and Mac) - actually it even works about 30 seconds and then looses output. Some Mac (and Logic) freaks here said that I should use Apogee Duet instead of M Audio, thought it's built specially for Logic and GarageBand. Hope it works. So, what I wanted to say - if beginner as me, You can get problems even with Logic.

Cool Re: Logic Studio

I have and use solely the Logic Pro suite for my recording, despite having Pro Tools as well. In my opinion, it's totally well worth the money. Especially for such a versatile set of tools to use.

If you want a full package, definitely buy it.

I have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro with a new iMac and it works perfectly. If you can't get it working try downloading drivers, looking for a step by step on how to set it up with Logic or making sure your sound card isn't damaged in some way.
