Default Logic Express 9 and Massive issues

OK,

I think this should be an easy question for someone.

I am recording with Logic Express 9 and using Massive as my synth.

I am able hear the massive synth and record the sound in a track. If I make a new track with a new Massive synth sound it will record the new sound in the new track but replace the previous sound with the new one. Hope that makes sense.

Also, noticed if I turned of massive then those tracks no longer play any sound at all.

Hope someone can help, thanks

Matches,

You have to understand the difference between midi and audio. When you record midi, it is not audio, like a wave file, but just a group of messages telling your synth what to play. If you use massive as your synth, but change the sound, your midi file will play the selected sound, whether it is a synth, bass, drums, etc. I hope that makes sense. So if you remove Massive, there is no sound engine for the midi file to trigger.
It sounds like you want to convert your midi file to an audio file, that you can place in an audio track. To do that...solo the "Massive" midi track and bounce it, but make sure the save to audio bin is enabled in the bounce window. After you bounce it, your track will show up in your audio bin as an audio track. You can then drag it to a new track in your arrange window, and treat it as an audio file.

you can also send the midi track out via a bus and record them in an audio track.
