Smile Logic 8 Export to Pro Tools

I have a couple songs from Logic 8 I'd like to take to a studio to be mixed.
All the studios have Pro Tools. How can I export my projects to be imported to Pro Tools? For some reason the engineers I've talked with don't really know the process.

Also what should I expect. Do I lose plugins, automation. What about tracks that have space and don't start at playhead position 1. I'm a newbie and have only been using Logic for about 3 months. So go easy on me with your responses. Perhaps I should just buy Pro Tools for future projects.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey mate, good question.

This is gonna take a little work but it's good to know. I'm going to assume you have recorded and rough-mixed the tracks as you want them, with plugins as you want them.

1. Because of the plugins you will have to bounce each and every track to a new WAV file. If the guitar has a send to a delay you have to solo both tracks etc.

2. Start by consolidating each track so they all start at the playhead, If you have cut out silences and have regions here and there on a track Logic will just add silence there. No worries about that.

3. Be sure to label all the WAVs correctly so it's easier for the studio mixer to set it up in Pro-Tools.

4. Talk to the studio mixer to see how he wants the audio files. In what bit-depth/sample rate. If you recorded in 44.1 KhZ I think you'll just have to stick with that but the preferred is 24 bit 48 Khz. Although sometimes it goes up to 96 Khz.

5. It can also be a good idea to bounce the track as you want to have it sound and tell the mixer that that's basically your idea but you want him to do it better.

Alright mate, hope that helped you some. It's a bit of work but then what isn't

And don't bash Logic it's a great DAW, although Pro-Tools obviously has the upperhand in professional studios today. Logic is great for home-studio users.
