Default Help with starting up with logic

I was looking to buy logic and i was hoping to get some advice on an audio interface. I'm looking to be able to record at least 8 tracks simultaneously. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I'd recommend by Home Recording Soundcard Wizard. See my signature below.

That'll ask the 10 questions I can't remember to ask and explain everything you may not understand.

Hi I run logic on a mac and I use a RME Multiface Pci card and Break out box which is half an 19" Rack mount in size. It has 8 in 8 out 1/4 inch jacks Balanced also it has spidif in and out ADAT in and out this sound card packs a massive punch in the quality market and can record at 24/96 khz the whole cost is around £500 -£600 at best and you do get a lot of bang for your buck. Latency is very low and if all the above was not enough you get a midi in and out port along with a software mixer which is extremely flexible, the drivers are rock solid and the whole build is rock solid. this sound card can be used with either Mac or a Windows computer as the drivers for it are cross platform Drivers.

It sounds like you really like your Multiface. Would you mind doing a review of it here?

I'm on a G5 Imac using Logic - does RME make a standalone system as I can't use cards in an Imac? Just wondering...

I'm pretty sure all the RME stuff is computer based, but I know they have plenty of Firewire products.

I have a Focusrite Saffire PRO10 which was £275 from dolphin music here in the UK has 8 quality preamps and 2 channels of digital so capable of recording 10 tracks over firewire. I have only recorded 6 live tracks so far as i'm mainly folk based and don't use drums at the moment.
The Saffire also allows for the piggy backing of up to 2 more units to give 24 tracks as requirements and funds allow. I love it, its easy and simple to use. I only wish I had gone for the PRO26 which has ADAT making expansion a little cheaper in the long run.
At present I am only using Garageband and can't really afford full Logic just yet so I am going to order Logic express next week, so I wil be here asking lots of questions i suppose. Anyone with advice on my upgrade will be welcome, thanks.
