| * GarageBand * m-Audio fast track ultra * Guitar plugged straight into the preamped channel 1 of the m-audio box, humbucker pickups in bridge (treble) position. * Monitoring through a pair of Sony MDR-V300 headphones. (Yes, yes, I know I should be micing an amp and monitoring with speakers, but the only time I can work on this is after my 4 year old daughter is asleep.) My frustration is that any attempt to get an overdriven sound out of the amp modeler totally fails on anything played on the B or (high) E strings. To my ears, it sounds like digital clipping, although the level LED on the m-audio box and the meter in GarageBand both stay in the green. I spent about an hour screwing with this, and the only way I could get rid of the nastiness was by dialing down the highs to the point that the remaining tone was pretty lifeless). Any tips would be appreciated. I can upload an mp3 this evening to show what I'm talking about. Thanks, Mark |

So, I just went to try and record an example of this, and everything sounds great. I think I must have had a bad connection or something yesterday, because I was also getting massive amounts of noise in the signal from I don't know where. So, never mind.
