Field Recordings
I would like to record my kids' orchestra concerts and other performances with my Macbook. I bought an AudioTechnica Pro24 stereo mic. This mic makes beautiful ambient recordings with my Sony DV camcorder, but I cannot get its levels high enough with the Macbook. With its battery in, it will record close up voice and guitar barely high enough while plugged into the MB audio input, and a bit better using a Griffin iMic, set to mic-level, also with the mic's battery in (fresh battery).
So I've been using the DV camcorder, with it's plug-in power input that gives rich and bright stereo sound with the Pro24, but I want more control over levels, format, and editing without having to transfer the dv file and split out the audio track.
Is there a battery powered, stereo mic preamp that will let me use this mic with the MB in the field? Any other solutions? Thanks.
