Hey guys, first time poster here. Glad to be a part of it ![]() Do any of you have any tips regarding making Logic run a little bit smoother? I am using my Macbook 2.1 Ghz 4GB Ram and I am continually getting system overload errors. I am just wondering if there are any settings to check or uncheck to make it run a little bit better. All right, see you guys. thanks in advance.

This is very common in logic.... and very easy to fix.. Once you know your done editing a track or have moved on to the next youll need to FREEZE those tracks with heavy CPU usage plugins.. Freezing a track will conserve almost 100 percent of your cpu for other tasks..A frozen track is rendered and stored in a temp folder on your recording drive. This file is then played as part of your mix as opposed to playing back the raw track going through effects processors, using your CPU's processing power. The best part is you can unfreeze a track and make whatever changes need be and and will automatically render a new track. If you have a ton of tracks with effects it could lower latency while recording, and will definitely clean up your playback in terms of getting rid of glitches, hiccups, etc. |

Hmmm... Thanks a lot. Now that you mention it I remember hearing about this freeze thing. This will come in handy, thank you so much.

Hi. My first post here... 1) When recording, use a lower buffer size(128or256). For mixing, a higher size or else... "Cpu or harddisk too slow" message... 2) While recording, never insert a plugin that induces latency on the output channel strip eg. AdaptiveLimiter. 3) Record audio and stream movies from/on separate drives.. I guess you already knew that. To test your system, double click the system monitor display in the transport and hit play. Situation: High track count when mixing. When you have too many tracks playing, force some audio regions to load from hard disk to RAM by selecting the "FollowTempo" checkbox in the region parameter box. Situation: CPU has too many plugins to process when mixing. If you're using lots of software instruments and DSP plugins - esp guitar simulators, could use the freeze function. However, once you freeze a track, you can't make further edits to the regions or plugins unless you unfreeze the track/s. Best wishes, R. Last edited by logicdroid; 06-21-2009 at 04:17 PM. |
