Default Effects on part of Audio Track Logic Pro 8

Some Background info:
I'm a Garageband user. In GB effects apply to the whole track. On vocal tracks this can be a pain if you want to apply a special effect only to a portion, say in the chorus line for example. To go around this you can copy the vocals, create another track and apply the desired effect to the new track.

Question #1:
Can Logic Pro 8 apply one or more effects only to a specific part of an audio track?

Question #2:
What other benefits would I gain from using Logic Pro 8 vs. GB?

Thanks for your input

If I get you, then sure, just automate what you need where you need it. Want chorus just on the chorus, then switch it on and off via automation.

The A on the keyboard toggles automation on and off. You can control pretty near everything from there, and click on the triangle in the bottom left (IIRC) to open more automation lanes for each track.

Never used GB, but from what I've seen GB is for fun, while Logic Pro is a serious tool.
And you can have fun.
