I have logic express 8.
I just want to know how in the world would i create a drum track in it. I dont have a set of drums and i am recording a dance rock song, and i would like to use the drum machine that comes with the program to make a track, but i have no idea how to access it. also, how about creating trombone sounds? i am making a ska tune, and i would love to add a trombone or two into the mix, but i have no idea where to go in logic to create the sounds. thanks for all of the help everyone! |

I really wish I could help you out personally but if you want a good book on using the Logic Pro program check out this book.
Amazon.com: Logic Pro 8: Audio and Music Production: Mark Cousins, Russ Hepworth-Sawyer: Books I found it really useful when learning the program. I don't really use Logic's programming ability when it comes to other instruments like drums and or trombones, I do however know it can do it. I use Garageband for mixing in drum sounds and making my demos before I bring them to the rest of the band. Logic to me is just the final recording program for making an actual recorded song. Good luck on using it though, the program rocks and can do just about anything you want it to. Keep us posted. Michael

if you're talking about MIDI drums/trombone etc, what you have to do is this:
create a midi track, underneath the I/O on the left hand side, hold the top one down. Then choose Stereo-->EXS24p Then choose whatever instrument you want. to program drums, you will need to create a midi region by pressing apple+left click, on the arrange page on your new midi track. Once this is done, you will have a blank box. double click on that. This will open the matrix edit, which I can't be bothered to explain, search the internet for tutorials on Logic's matrix edit. |
