Default cant get garage band to recognize my multimix 12

i have a usb multimix 12..installed the mac drivers that Alesis offers. In my Sound Settings, USB Audio Codec is show as it should..but nothing is coming through...tried it on a PC with same settings and it worked perfectly. Garageband is set to the correct input (USB AUDIO CODEC)...yet it still gets nothing? ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

i am going to go bootup the mac and try it with the mixer ON before garage band opens..if not..does this work okay with tiger? because I could always just whip out my Tiger install and revert back...does iLife 09' Work in tiger, or is it Leopard based only.

Edit: It didnt work...could i record each track on my windows computer say....with audacity or something like that...then bring them over once theyre all recorded to garageband...for the ease of use, or would that make them sound like shit?

I was going to try and install iLife 09 and was reading the specs, my understanding is that it won't work with tiger (which I run@&$^$!!!) I also have a multimix8 that i was going to try and run as well let us know how it turns with the 12
