I've recently upgraded from Logic Express 7 to Logic Pro 8. In LE, I was used to being able to see a small but useful version of the notes in the arrange window for each software instrument track. I'd become accustomed to using these as a guide when editing, much as with looking at the waveform when editing an audio track. However, in LP8 these seem to have gone, and been replaced with tiny vague dots, which don't bear much relation to what was played. Is there a way to view the notes in the arrange window in LP8? If not, I'm might disappointed. |

If you're looking for actual music notation, which is what I think you are asking, just click on the score tab at the bottom of the arrange window.

Thanks, but I know how to see the score. I'm talking about seeing the musical notation in the regions in the arrange window, as in Logic Express. As I said, this is very useful when you are editing. I can see the midi notes, but these are only displayed in their entirety when you set the track at a large width (the notation in LE became visible when the track was wide enough to see automation info). Also, they are incredibly narrow and difficult to see (in fact impossible on certain background colours). The notation gave a much more intuitive graphical representation, even for a non-too-sharp music reader such as myself. |

I see what you mean (no pun intended). I've been reading around on Logic's feature set and it seems that Apple intends for the Score Window to be the sole place to view notation. You can of course select regions from multiple tracks and then view them stacked up in the score window.

Cheers, I didn't know you could see scores for different regions/tracks simultaneously. That is really useful, though it doesn't quite solve my editing problem. It's a shame this feature isn't available in Pro, though of course, the inconvenience is somewhat outweighed by the innumerable benefits of using Pro over Express. Still, if anyone knows if it's possible to view notation in regions in the arrange window in Logic Pro please let me know. |
