Default can't burn cd in Logic

I'm running Logic Express 8 and I'm having a devilish time trying to burn a cd. Assuming I have a complete project file of a song what is the path that I take in order to burn a cd? So far when I insert a cd it will say sometimes I need a disk space of up to 1.5 gb which is ridiculous. Other times it will say 1.7mb. I will go to finder and it will say burn song "x" to cd? and I will load the cd and it will go through the motions and verify that it has recieved the input. Then I will take the cd to the player and it will play for about 14 seconds and then stop with absolutely no sound. Am I not using the right file to download? In other words if someone out there could give me a path that works for them it would be greatly appreciated.

You have to bounce your song down first to put it into a format to burn onto a cd. Look up bouncing in your manual.

The path that works best for me is using the bounce button located on the main output 1-2. Its on the graphical interface for the mixer. Just make sure that you write down what measures you want to bounce down first, because once you open the bounce settings, logic will not let you scroll across your song to check the settings. There are probably fifty ways to do everything in these programs, so Boo has a strong point with the manual. Like I said, this is just what I do. And when I'm using these programs I get hopelessly lost or sidetracked if I don't use pencil and paper.

Just a quick tip for bouncing in Logic, if you highlight the section you want to bounce with the loop function (that green bar at the top of the arrange window) then when you hit bounce, it'll automatically be set to bounce the section you have highlighted.

Thanks guys I finally did successfully download onto cd. The only problem is that I'm getting some skips like it is a dirty cd or scratched. And I haven't been able to figure out how to put more than one song on the cd. I guess I'll need to review the manual some more. I do have the MacPro video which has been excellent for much of this experience.

Skips can indicate a damaged CD but it can also occur if you're playing a burned CD on an older CD player. Newer players are better with burned CDs.

You might consider exporting your songs as wav files, loading them into an iTunes playlist and then burning the CD from iTunes.

Sparqee, I had wondered if it might be better to transfer my songs to Itunes and I didn't know how to do it. Thanks for the heads up I'll try it. And you may be right about the burned cd because I am playing it on an older player but it has not exhibited any problems yet. I will get this right eventually as all things worthwhile take time.
