Default Recording at 8000 Hz

Hi:

I'm a voice-over professional and I was asked to deliver a file recorded using the WAV format at 8000hz (8kh) 16-bit mono.

When I listened back to my work, it sounded as if I had used an old telephone from inside a coffin. It sounded that muffled.

Normally, I record my voice in 41000 Hz and it sounds crisp and clear.

Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid another voice-from-the crypt debacle!

Thanks for your input!

Paul
