Did you try the "Change Pitch" effect?

It's not an ideal solution, because with the pitch change comes a distortion of the sound; but maybe with only a half-step or so it wouldn't be so bad.

I'm guessing you've already tried this though, it being a rather obvious solution. If so, what happened when you did?

Sounds like a sample rate problem. Maybe there's a mismatch between your DAW and your sound card. Make sure the sample rate is set the same on both.

thanks for the replies.

change pitch effect doesnt work because it only does this during recording. and i dont want to try to do that for every track i make. and its not only higher off key, but its also a bit faster in tempo. normally, if i play the whole thing without recording, everything sounds fine.

richiebee, i dont know what daw is, can you tell me how i can do that? interesting part is, sometimes everything works fine with the program and 80% of the time this problem occurs. its just a matter of luck at this point.
