New to Audio Fast track pro installed windows xp

All was fine. BTW, Hello all you pros and peeps I'd prob have lots of fun with!
Using Audacity...

All was fine and I was able to make a voice recording. Later the same day (yesterday), suddenly the sound was not picked up from mic.

My pc may have shut down a few times/sleep mode.

I see a problem, I think it's the problem anyway. In the control panel "sound and alerts", volume tab, "device volume" the slide will not slide to increase volume. It's stuck! It's completely to the left, no volume.

Any help or suggestions? (I don't even know what the knobs on the Fast Track Pro do yet. Need to submit voice recording tonight. ugh

Are you referring to the control panel for the Fast Track? I've never seen a real audio interface with a volume control in the control panel. Is there any chance you are attempting to use the old stock soundcard's control panel?
