Audacity Jams Up

I have checked the forum but can't find an answer. I have had audacity for four years without a problem. Now all of a sudden whenever i click the play button, all i get is a pulsating line. I tried placing the cursor at various parts of the song, but it still will not play.

This was sent to me via PM.

There could be a billion reasons for this. I'd start by checking Control Panels > System to see if any drivers died on you. (You'll know if you see a yellow "!").

If this computer is connected to the internet I'd advice running anti-virus and spyware software and cleaning out the stuff in the startup in the msconfig.

You may need to reinstall Audacity.

Sorry for the generic responses, but I'm not an Audacity user.

Is your soundcard / interface working for other audio programs?

Anyway, Audacity has been improved many times in the last four years, that's for sure. I would go ahead and download the latest version.

It seem some files corrupted in your audacity software. reinstall your software hope it will work fine.
