Alesis Multimix 16 Firewire and Audacity

Avid reader, first time writer (cliche ain't it?)

So, unless I'm totally missing something (and I hope I am) there is not a way to record the Main Mix of the Alesis Multimix 16 Firewire into Audacity. My reason for saying this is that those channels (the stereo Main Mix) are channels 17 and 18. Audacity doesn't let me take in any more than 16 channels, and it takes them from the mixer sequentially (channel 1 on the board matches channel 1 in Audacity) so if I want to record a mic on channel 1 and a stereo keyboard on channel 9/10 I have to have channels 2-8 recording nothing. Does this make sense? Has anyone else had this problem with Audacity? Thanks.

I just picked up a MultiMix 8FW, tried going through Audacity the other day and had some issues too, Paul. 'Course I'm a serious noob to all of this so I'm going to be of no help at all with your questions. As an aside tho', would it be possible to pm you a question or two as I run into them?
