This Voice of Music arrived from a eBay seller yesterday. Came with tape, spool, and tabletop MIC for US$$$ 3.25.
My little Behringer guitar amp sits in the back bedroom on a plastic nightstand with my alarm clock. So, I wanted to leave a little deck back there for "moments".
It's got a tone/on-off and loudness knobs. I did a voice sound check for level and set the tone at noon and the loudness at noon. I set the mic about 1/1/2 inch from the Behringer GM108. along with the picks, plug adapters and and ashtray to vibrate. The amp was maybe 6 gain with all the modeling, 6-7 for bass & mid - 3 for treble, and 3 for volume. A decent feedback level for a treble single coil.
My 8 minutes of crap playing was transferred to digital and normalized to 90.
I recorded over my scratch tape and erasure was good - the Behringer hum is the noise. I think I even managed to catch a dropout in this clip : )
It's just what I wanted for fairly cheap (real cheap). The MIC is a little 4-inch darling with 1/4" plug. The decks 4 tubes gave me some sweetness. The built-in speaker is good for this tone range(haven't tried music yet). I couldn't see it, but I found the play hub is missing some tangs while trying to mount a spool. The motion controls need to be cleaned and lubed. The head area looks fine and uses a pressure pad. It's a a/c portable about 12x10x7 inches with wooden lid. It is bigger than the Fujiya but is in better working condition.
