This review comes at a perfect time. I am considering the purchase of the Mackie MR8 monitor speakers. These monitor speakers were recommended by a friend who has a working studio. He stated that he was really happy with the results while using these monitors. I have listened to some of his recordings and feel that the mixes translate well to different listening situations.

I had the chance to hear these over at Steve's music store in Ottawa yesterday and was quite supprised with the results. Switching between the mackie MR8, the KRK RP8 MkII and the DYNaudio BM5... The Mackie MR8 was closer to the DYNaudio soud than the KRK sound.

I own a pair of KRK RP-6 (1st ed) and I can't say that I really like them. I can work them because I know them by now, but the sound is not what I feel good working on for hours...

The MR8 was plesent at both low and moderate volumes. With different music styles.

I'm looking to replace my monitors, These will be woth a second listen.

M.
