![]() ![]() KRK RP-5 @ Musiciansfriend ![]() KRK RP-5 @ Zzounds KRK RP-5 Description The KRK RP-5 Rokit Powered Reference Studio Monitor features a 5" woofer made of a woven glass aramid composite for a tight low-end response. 1" soft-dome tweeter emits natural sounding highs. The RP-5 drivers are electronically crossed over and biamped for increased efficiency. All of this is housed in an attractive KRK cabinet with radiused corners that reduce edge diffraction, resulting in better audio imaging. The monitor's rear input panel has RCA, 1/4" TRS, and XLR connectors. |

![]() ![]() I recently purchased a pair of KRK RP5G2s for AUD$599 (plus freight) which is about as cheap as they come in Oz at the time of writing. Other brands I had considered were the M-Audio BX5a Deluxe and Fostex PM05mk2, both of which had comparable pricing for a 5” monitor and 8/10” subwoofer option. As I am not in a location where I can readily audition monitors I purchased these purely on the many positive Internet reviews. The vast majority of reviews are very complementary of the KRKs RPG2s within their price point with most reviewers reporting the bass response was quite good for a 5” speaker. KRK RP5G2 Rokit G2 User Reviews - zZounds.com Studio-Central Community • View topic - Opinions on Monitors Under $300 I purchased these speakers for home studio work (about which I am a complete newbie) and also to use as quality PC speakers to listen to rock/blues music. I was hopeful that the bass would be sufficient to satisfy my listening taste knowing that I could always add the matching KRK 10S sub later if I wished. On listening to them I am generally pleased with the sound quality and detail but, while I agree that the bass was reasonable for speakers this size, I did feel the bass was a bit lacking for general listening to music CDs. If you are on a tight budget I feel you could make do with just the RP5G2s but I found a good price for the KRK 10S at AUD$599 and decided that I might as well get the sub now rather than later. I have ordered the subwoofer and will add more detail after the subwoofer arrives and I have had a chance to try it out.

| Quality: 8 the rokit 5's are well built, they have a good range of sound, but the bass doesnt handle a 808 well. Reliability: 9 so far so good, ive had them for about a month now and they take a beating and keep on going. the amps seem to run at a decent temerature. Overall Rating: 8 for the money i would definetly recommend these monitors for the budget minded muscian looking for good quality monitors.
