Hey e'budy!
Started using "guitar finale" back in 03, upgraded to Finale 2007 in 07 and am looking at F/08. The 08 program looks great but I'm gonna stick with 07/c for now.
The beauty of a notation program is although I can read music (hunt and peck method),
I can type out full piano/guitar scores and play them back or convert them to "tab" for better ear familiarization. I have both Finale and it's chief competitor and finale's "simple entry" is IMO much easier to use.
I'm the song leader at the church I attend and we sing the traditional hymns. Some of the hymns are quite obscure so if I don't know the piece I simply type out the full piano score or just the melody, type the repeat sign for 20 or so loops and play the piece until
I have it in my head.
I teach guitar and the tab program is indispensable!
I think you can't go wrong having this type of tool at your disposal.
Over the years I've found Make music's support and forums to be good sources of help!
Thanks for your time!
stigg.

We, here at the house, after 15 year of purchasing the product, have had it with Coda's ...uh...MakeMusic's annual shakedown for $150 protection money each and every year's "update". What a load of BS. $150 for minor improvments? Claiming to implement features that have never worked properly (scanning, for one). Enough of that crap. We'll run 2007 until it doesn't run anymore then off to Sibelius.

Hey is this the software that lets the music you write show and write to a computer sheet music screen (like Jack Black was doing in the Holiday?)

Didn't see the movie, but yeah. Although it's harder to read music off a screen than off a sheet of paper. I do both and much prefer the felt-covered music stand to staring at a screen more than I have to.

Thanks. I can write - but only piano. Other instruments are written differently - if I'm not mistaken. Appreciate the reviews.

Finale will allow to write in concert pitch and then you can transpose for what instrument you want.
