Using Izotope Ozone 3

I talked to a guy at sweetwater he said you could use Ozone 3 and basically use it on one section to get it sounding the way you want, and then save those presets or EQ or whatever and then apply that to all the other sections to get them all to sound the same in theory. Otherwise he said I'm going to have to go to each section (Song) and get it to sound the way I want. The mix is one file containing 50 songs, and I broke that up into 17 tracks, 1st track is the Intro 15 Tracks have 3 songs and the 16th has 4. I'm only playing one verse on almost every song and then I mix on the hook. I sent this file to a guy on the djforums to master but I don't like the way it turned out, so I'm gonna let him change things to try to get it to the way I want it, but also in the meantime I would like to experiment and try to figure out how to make one section or song sound real good and then use that setting or however you do it and apply that to all the rest so they all sound about the same in theory and then from there raise all the levels up.

this type of technology has been around for a while. I even had a Sascom rep try to sell me one of these type devices 7 or 8 years ago as 'the new way' of doing things....it isn't.

Producing music is EASY to do crappy, hard to do well. Trying to shortcut the process will most certainly leave you unimpressed.

These auto mastering boxes don't do anyone any favors - and hence - they're basically a gimmick product. an audio Cure-All doesn't exist.

Mastering is a process, not a plugin and quality work has everything to with who's doing the work (Doctor's save people, not drug companies)

Well I mean since all the songs I used are already mastered should I really have to go through and edit each one, or would just using Ozone on the whole file be good. I mean I know every song is different and contains different instruments and all that. I recorded it all in -6 DB and it sounds pretty good ofcourse since all I did was play the music on the vinyl and mix it live and then record it so there was no change in quality.

I played around with O3 quite a bit but found that once you get a preset that is close to what you want, you have to work with it manually and even turn off things like the dynamics so you aren't overdoing it. The realtime eq is great but it seems like you never get what you want in the end with this entire VST and all it's features.

I really love Izotope Ozone.

I guess it's all about how you use it. It's a good "mastering" pluggin for someone that wants to get more life in his mixes. For sure, it can't compete to a real mastering made by some million dollars studio, but I manage to get my mix to another level with it.

I like how you can analyse songs you like by putting the pluggin on them. You can then see directly the general EQ of a song you like. It is a good visual help to correct your mix by looking at a professional mix you like. I find the multiband compression really interesting for someone that can't afford all the big gear.

I think the key with it is not to overuse it, because the sound quality can quickly drop if you do so.
