Uhh. The point was that RMS normalization is nothing but distortion that has no regard for the audio that went into it. Peak normalization doesn't distort the signal, it simply figures out the loudest peak and how far away it is from 0.0 and adds that amount of gain to the entire signal. This really won't get you anywhere for getting the level you want. Rip one of your favorite modern songs into Audition and look at the waveforms. You'll find that it has been limited heavily probably by a Waves L2 or equivalent. This kind of volume you just can't get with peak normalizing.

The solution to your problem is not a specific issue in Audition. It's a problem that all beginners and intermediate dudes have when recording on any format. It's an issue of compression/limiting throughout the mix and on the 2 bus. You will not find the answer to this in your Adobe Audition manual.

Cool Re: Turn up the volume in Audition

LMAO... Im sitting here learning and laughing at the same time its gets no better than this.

I had to order a sample mastering disc from Disc Makers, on the cd they have like maybe 10 or 12 tracks on the CD. Track 1 would be a song mixed right out the studio and track 2 would be a song mastered by Disc Makers. this procedure is repeated through the cd I would load the tracks in Steinberg wave lab and study the differences.

I would upload track 1(studio version) into wavelab and try to manipulate it as much as possible to get it sounding close if not exactly like track 2 (mastered version).

It takes alot time and knowledge of your plugins & gear.

mastering depends on a the mix (you cant shine a turd)

and it may depend on the style also.
