You'll have to convert it to an mp3. Usually you will be limited to 5 or 10 MB for email attachments.

You can convert with iTunes or many other programs.

Or you could upload it to a site like megaupload.com and e-mail them the link to download it.

I've successfully used yousendit.com (free version)

It uploads your file and automatically notifies the recipient via his email address and he downloads.

From previous attempts to do this I believe most ISPs have a limit on file size for attachments - mine is 16MB, but I've never been able to send much more than an 8MB file. Not large enough for a song.

I ended up putting the wav file onto a CD and sending it snail mail. For just sending a song for someone to have a listen to I convert to MP3 - however thats no good if you want them to add something to it and send it back.

Hope that sheds some light -

Zeek

Yousendit seems to be almost industry standard with up the 100mb file, so it is fine for a single wav bounce (very easy to use)...... My fave is apple's mobileme solution but it is a paid for service.

When sending more than one file remember to always put them in a folder and create a zip file. If you are sending stems your file size will shrink dramatically. I am surprised how many people dont do this

the mp3 standard was created as a way to compress normally large audio files so that they could be used on the internet. use it.

Yes, there are lots of advantages to that. I do that with folders of photographs that I want different people to see.
Once you do start uploading audio for others to hear though you might as well do it via your own website, or have an upload page on a friend's website as part of his host deal. Then the file size doesn't matter and you can exchange large files in formats which others can edit. That's what I'm attempting to do now.

Right now I'm really liking DropBox
you upload by just dragging to your shared folder on your computer. it automatically sends to the web.
If you install the DropBox on another computer and sign in to your account, all the files will download to the second computer.
Anything in the public folder you can get a direct link for, which is great for .mp3 links
