Default Re: Reverb Problem - Urgent Help Needed

Okie dokie. That makes sense. I didn't mean to be a jerk. I just have certain standards that I want to uphold on this forum.

With that said, no mastering engineer worth a damn is going to cut or boost more than 2db (at least this what I've always heard) and if a 2dB change "soaks" the instrument in reverb, something is wrong.

It looks like we sussed this problem but, it brought up an issue I don't think many people realize: stereo buss compression CAN bring out the apparent level of spatial effects like reverbs and delays. The way I like to relate is it like this - the 'vibe' of spatial effects live in the spaces in between the sounds in a mix, as in nature. Compression squeezes those spaces and brings things hiding 'ing the wings' forward. In other words - if you're REALLY going for a super dry mix or a super wet mix - be careful because the relationship of the verbs and delays to the primary sounds WILL change a bit in mastering. Again - quite obviously - NOT the issue here - just something that's good to know--Steph
