Turn the gain down, back of the mic some or maybe add some compression in the chain. I don't quite get what you're trying to describe though. Are you talking about plosives? Like to much air hitting the diaphragm? If that's the case then backing off the mic, learning how to control your airflow when singing or a better pop filter(or any combination of the 3). As far as pop filters go I recommend this one: Buy Stedman Proscreen XL Pop Filter | Pop Filters | Musician's Friend It's definitely not on the cheap side as far as pop filters go. But it does wonderful things for singers who push a lot of air, trust me when I say you'll never buy another pop filter after you try this one. i want my words to be pronounced silently ya know...? like not being able to hear my mouth form a "B" "I" "Ah" "O"sound....im not talking bout the "S" or "P" sounds..i have them under control...im trying to eliminate the sharp creaking sounds...so when i talk my vocals sound real smooth..instead off hearing sharp creaks when i say sumin with a "I" "Ah" "O" "UH" sounds...ya know

I would say EQ would probably be your best friend in this situation. Maybe even try gating out some of the troublesome frequencies. If possible try a different mic, the Rode NT1a is pretty much flat from 20hz-20khz so whatever is coming out when you sing is going to be picked up on the mic. I would experiment with your distance from the mic and position and see if it makes any difference, at the very least you may find a spot that's not picking it up quite as well and can fix it easier.

Yes, a clip would be very helpful. And it depends on the gate, if it has a high cut and a low cut you can use those to try and root out some of the problem frequencies. Problem with that though is you might be cutting out a bunch of good stuff too. I think EQ'ing it would yield better results, while trying to make sure it's not picked up at all would make it even easier! Last edited by haveigonemental; 06-13-2009 at 04:53 AM. |
