The last Metallica is about the worst sound major release in the history of Rock music.

I'm am not a recording superman by any means , but I work hard on keep the dynamics in our recordings and use about Zero Compression.

We set out levels in the final mix to about -6 DB and hope that our listeners know how to use a volume knob.

We are also considering printing our first album on Vinyl and CD just to keep that banned word on our records.

The Record /RIAA crowd is loosing more and more every year with the silly garbage the churn out.

This is our my space page.

If you listen to the first song on the player and then listen to the Planet's Changed song you will see the difference .

The song "Sit On It And Think " is done in our studios .
The Planets changed was mastered by a pro outfit and sounds like doggy bon bons .
Not saying that we are the best at recording by any means.

To not use any compression seems a little strange extreme, just like over compression is extreme. I suppose it depends on the style of music, but I know that for a lot of metal, the compression makes it sound better. It makes the kick drum feel like it's hitting some theoretical maximum, which makes it feel loud and huge. It's really just a new form of distortion. Old farts hate it, kids love it.

I do agree that death magnetic sounded awful. To me, it's unlistenable, but a lot of people I've talked to say they hear nothing wrong with it. On that same note, a lot of people who live in San Francisco don't notice that it smells like piss.

Like all fads, it will be pushed to the limit until people start to complain, then it will pull back and find a happy medium.
