I don't know Sonar, but the gray button usually means that the software probably latched on to your default sound card when it was installed. It's not seeing it as available, now. Usually, you just have to run through the Sonar audio set-up. Usually there are i/o settings on each individual track, also. Something like a ASIO driver can do this also. You might switch back and forth from ASIO to MME or Direct sound settings.
