Exclamation Final Product Qualities

I am wondering what the qualities of a Top-Selling album/track are.

-Average RMS?
-What kind of EQ?
-(I know this is in the mixing stage but) Panning techniques, Keeping instruments from hogging up the EQ

It would help me very much if someone could sort all this stuff out.

If you care (and I know I do), find out. Load a few in an have a look. You should also the read spectragraphs for said recordings to see how the EQ works out. On number #3, put the old headphones on and spend a couple hours leafing through songs, making notes.

These are great and historically necessary questions to reckon with in figuring out how to make good records.

Thanks for the reply!
I'll give a look at a bunch of the top hits and try to mimic (if not improve off of) their techniques.
