Default Tascam Us-1641

Has anyone have any thoughts on this unit?
I think I'm very close to purchasing one.

Thanks

I have it. It's a really good buy. Lots of inputs and outputs. Sounds good too.

I'm currently using one and it works really well. There's no latency problems, the preamps are good, and the audio quality is great. I like mine a lot

i have one for about two weeks running with dell inspion 4 gigs of ram vista 32 bit everthing disabled and it still has a few problems. I'm using the included cubase le 4. so far it doesn't look to promising.I have tweaked the laptop for music but so far it doesn't seem very stable.

I have been looking at this unit for a while now. I keep reading reviews with people having latency problems when recording overdubs. It;s a big turn off for me since I do a lot of overdubbing. Does anyone with experience have anything to say about that?

I figured it out. It was the old drivers and my small brain. I was monitoring from the wrong outputs.I can't be 100% sure which worked right because it's not home right now. And also using reaper really helped me sort out the routing. (reaper rocks!).

Cool of you to reply. I used reaper for a little while, but had trouble with tunexpectedly closing when routing audio through vsti's. Hard to believe it's open source free... when it works

I've heard people mention that you can't mix on headphones but I don't understand what they mean. They say the jack is just for live monitoring.Don't get it.I put mine all the way towards computer mix on the front panel dial and i can pan and eq(but i usually do that on monitors)If i wanna overdub i think an external mixer is the way to go.If i could only figure out Cubase.

I have and it works great. Only thing you can't have nVidia chips powering your UsB ports. It will not work right. I had to buy a Belkin PCI USB 2.0 card. That straightened everything out. I really like it. Good deal for the dollar.I wired all the line ins to my direct outs on my mixer and that gave 14 xlr in's.

Yes i had that problem too. I upped the buffers and it works great. Thats if you wan t to use the line outs to monitor everything. There's no latency problem if you use the monitor outs.

Make sure you use the ASIO drivers !!!! VERY IMPORTANT
