This is a nice unit although it took me awhile to get it setup with out having any recording problems which was my own fault. Nicely designed and layed out well for my needs the Tascam has 14 anolog inputs and 2 digital inputs. 4 line outs and 2 monitor outs on it. There is a knob to balance your outputs and your inputs when your adding additional tracks. 8 xlr inputs on the front with 2 - 1/4" inputs on the front which all have pre's on them. 4 - 1/4" inputs on the backside with switchable +4 and -10 db pad. All are balanced. Midi in and out and digital in and out which I don't use. I set this up which I forgot to switch the driver mode in my daw. So I had a latecy problem for about 2 or 3 days till I switched to ASIO drivers and everything worked perfect. If your computer uses nVidia chips to power your usb ports you might want to consider another interface. My old computer had the nVidia chips and I had to invest in a Belkin usb 2.0 card which took care of that problem. Problem was playback was terrible. I never even made it to the recording end with my onboard usb. Now that I have got all my bugs out I would rate this card at a 9. I built a new computer and used Intel board and processor. This eliminated the usb card and let me run more plug ins. This interface does use cpu more than my old one.(M-Audio delta 44) But I have not tasked it over 15% yet. The sound is awsome and my mixes sound great. If you wan to hear my mixes goto SoundClick artist: The Delve - page with MP3 music downloads and listen to the 2 songs "For Him and Chaos" as these were done with the Tascam. It came packed with Cubase LE which I have not loaded yet. Using my old daw that I love. (Sonar) Works great with Sonar. I hope this post was helpful to whom ever reads it. To the bossman on here, your review stated 16 anolog ins and there are only 14. I thought you might like to know. If there is 16 I cannot find the other 2. I recorded a band with this unit and i had no problems with recording and playback. I have 20 tracks going at once with lots of plugins running and my cpu handles it quite well. (15% or less)
