It lets you record two tracks at a time with zero-latency monitoring, high-quality mic inputs, better-than-CD-quality 24-bit/96kHz recording, and MIDI I/O. Thumbs up Re: TASCAM US-144 Reviews

Quality: 9
A sturdy Aluminium case and easy to adjust knobs on top, which I think is great.
As far as I can hear it sounds pretty good. Been recording 24bit 48kHz and vocals sound crystal clear.
Digital in works flawless. Very handy for recording synthesizers that have digital out (all the new ones)

Reliability: 7
ok, to short in use to make a opinion.

Overall Rating: 9
Yes I would recommend to everybody starting to record. Cubase LE comes with it, and the MIDI interface is also handy.

I've been using one of these for a little over a year. Within the last couple of months, the right channel has developed some sort of problem that has only gotten worse over time. It's now so bad that the right channels basicly useless. I plan to keep the device around simply because its my only midi device, but beware: if you start to notice noise developing and its still covered by the 1 year warranty, get it serviced right away as it may get worse.

I might beable to get one of these for around 100 dollars on Ebay right now. Has anyone tried to record some guitar with this and what are your results?
