Reliability

10/10 so far. This is doing just fine for me so far, i'm only doing little recordings though, so you big-guns recording big bands and needing 50 inputs or watever will not want this. However, it works for me and hasn't broken. I hope it never will.

Quality

For me, 10/10. But as i said i'm only a small hobbyist. People who are inot bigger stuff with need more. But it works perfectly with Cubase LE4 (which came with it!). So i'm happy.

Overall

It works. That's all that really needs to be said. People who are in the business will know this is not for them.

Quite happy with the quality. Good audio, some initial problems with latency requiring me to shut down all un-necessary services and applications on my laptop to get a good quality recording (no pops and clicks).

Reliability: 9
No issues with reliability

Overall Rating: 6
Be aware that the US-122L does not (yet) have 64 bit drivers. This was a disappointment to me as I had just bought a fancy new machine with 4Gb RAM and Vista 64bit expecting to use it for recording. Tascam promised 64bit drivers back in September 2007 - still waiting.

Ok... so maybe the instruction manual lacks a feeeew details on how to get this to work, being new to the whole recording thing, i had to figure out what the chinese-translated instruction manual meant here and there. But other than that, when you get it up and working, it's a charm... i like the way it's powered by the usb so you don't have to deal with yet another piece of cable. Brilliant.

Reliability: 10
Excellent service at tech support... the guys there were really friendly and knew exactly what i was talking about (which, in fact, came as a bit of a surprise since i myself didn't know what i was talking about)... The one thing i feel is missing is regarding the Cubase LE... i have registered the product and everything, but still the instruction manual is locked... anyhow, it takes about one inch of forehead to figure out how to push this and that button.

Overall Rating: 9
If a hurricane came and blasted my humble studio, i would definately run to the shop to buy the same equipment.... but maybe it's because i'm lazy enough not to try and fight some other piece of equipment. By the way, THANK YOU, mister Brandon, i really appreciate that anyone could dedicate himself to guiding people through the immense learning curve there is to get on record all of our brilliant ideas... coo.

Have you found anything else in the price range that works on a 64 bit Vista? I just ran into the same problem.

Hi SolitaryRising,

No, what I ended up doing was installing 64-bit XP on my machine in a dual-boot with Vista. Tascam has 64bit drivers for XP (but not Vista so go figure??).

From other stuff I have read recently it turns out that XP is probably better for doing audio stuff on anyway.

The other beauty with the dual-boot is that I have nothing else installed on that partition except XP and Cubase. I have shut down all the (non essential) services and removed startups etc and turned off the network. So it's very lean and I can get the latency down to 2ms which is awsome.

Actually, I take that back. Have just been to the Tascam site and noticed they now have 64Bit drivers there for both Windows XP and Vista.

If you try them out and they work, I'd be glad to know.

i am using mine with logic express 8, and have had no issues at all. it does everything i need it to do. i say if all you need is two channels and a midi in/out, and don't mind USB, this unit is worth the price.
