Quality: 9
The quality of the unit is top notch. The sound quality is great. Back in my early days of recording, I tended to blame my gear for my lack of skill. I dumped $2,400 on Mytek converters. (4 channels in, 2 channels out). The difference in sound quality was subtle. It was there, but it wasn't anything like I had expected. I'd say it was a 1-2% improvement. No client has ever noticed when I switched between the two. So I think the converters in the Delta 1010 are great for anyone in home recording land. When you get to a stage where an extra 1% is worth $2k to you, knock yourself out and upgrade. Reliability: 9 I purchased a pair of M-Audio Delta 1010 audio interfaces back in 2001. I can't recall having any major issues. Over the years they incrementally improved the drivers. Sometimes I had better luck with the older drivers, but this was rarely an issue. At the end of 2007 I had some major computer problems where I misdiagnosed a problem thinking that one of the Delta 1010s had died. It turned out that something super strange was going on in my recording computer that even formatting wouldn't fix. Eventually, I worked this issue out but by that time I had already purchased a Presonus Firestudio. Overall Rating: 9 The Delta 1010 is an excellent audio interface for anyone who doesn't require preamps, portability, etc. You can read Departing With M-Audio Delta 1010 Audio Interfaces for details about the modern features the Delta 1010 does not have. With that said, I've been extremely pleased with the Delta 1010s. Even though I do not use them anymore, I consider them to be great!
