Disregard that last comment. The SM7B is without a doubt the best mic you can get in its price range. It is not fair to just it sucks. Yes try it first, but also compare it to other mics in the range. Its my favourite dynamic though for shure (pun intended). Bulletproof too. If you buy a cheap chinese condenser you'll want a better mic sooner than later. Get the SM7 and you'll have something you'll hold onto.

I've had the SM7b for about a year now and it's the most used vocal mic in my cabinet. The worst sound mic ever? I must be deaf like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, 3 Doors Down, Metallica, Michael Jackson, etc who have used it. From my experience it's a very forgiving mic for vocals, especially with inexperienced rock singers.

| Quality: 10 This is a very rugged mic. I've never dropped me intentionally or unintentionally, but I'm confident that if I did drop it, it'll still work as good as new. Sorta like a 58. Reliability: 10 I've had it for a year now. I can't complain about it's reliability. Never had a problem with it. Used it with various preamps and never had any issues with sound quality or coloration. Never needed tech support at Shure. Overall Rating: 10 Yes, I would recommend the SM7b to others, especially for rock vocals. I haven't tried it on bass amps or kick drums because I haven't needed to, but I'm sure it holds up on those as well.

| Quality: 10 It is built like a tank. No crappy plastic here, in fact I almost wish they had used at least a little to lighten it up... this mic is heavy! Sounds great on my voice and everyone else's I try. Reliability: 10 Haven't had it long, but I expect it should hold up as well as any other Shure product. Their customer service is great as well, so if anything did happen I know it would be fixed. I've even heard of them sending new replacements for old mics that had broken. They are built to last a long time. Overall Rating: 10 This is a great mic that has been proven to be a great performer by many top producers. It sounds great on almost any voice and is very friendly to untreated rooms. For the price it is an absolute steal. Go get one and skip the cheap chinese condenser.
