Lately is has been my favorite kick mic for live show

Great when set inside the drum .

Looks like it's built like a tank .

Before that I was using a D12 that finally died and when rebuilt is going to be used only in studio work

Quality: 10
I've never had a problem with it. I mostly use it on the front side of the kick drum, just inside the hole (if there is a hole).

I accompany the 52 with the 112 on the attack/beater side. Mixing them together provides a nice blend of full, punchy kick.

Reliability: 10
So far it's been an indestructable piece of gear that I use multiple times per month. I almost always use it on the kick drum.

Overall Rating: 10
Overall it's an excellent mic that I find captures the intent of capturing the fullness/boominess of the kick.

On occasion I've used it to mic a bass cabinet, but I get the most bang (OK, bad pun) for the buck by using it on the front side of the kick. I found that I capture a better attack using the 112 (although alone it's to "attacky" - if that's a good word to use). I almost always need to blend the 112 and 52 together in the mix.
