Re: Peluso 22 251 Reviews Quality: 7
The capsule and transformer are upgraded, the rest of the circuit is too close for comfort to the stock Alctron made Apex 1150.
As with the 22 47, I think the earlier versions of the 22 251 had more attention given to them. I don't think capsule in the current version meets the same standard as the earlier ones - success may have lead to complacency.
As for the earlier version, the mic really sounded great on my voice - I totally dug it. Creamy mids, well behaved highs, NO hashiness or eshiness, just a real euphonic sound on my voice to my ears. Reliability: 9
No problems. Overall Rating: 7.5
This mic seems to be a hit or miss for people, depending on what you like, etc.
If you find that you're having problems with mics with too much esh/hash/grunt and want something smooth and creamy, this mic can do that so long as the preamp is not ultra transparent IMO.
FWIW, it mates well with something like the Sebatron VMP2000e.
I would certainly buy used in the under $1k USD range ($900 seems about right) but would not buy it new at it's current price, not when you can but all handmade mics (including the capsule) like the BeesNeez Phelicity, which can be tuned to your preferences, for close to the same price.
