MXL V63M Description
The MXL V63M Stereo Large Diaphragm Condenser microphone features two 22mm pressure-gradient gold capsules in an X/Y pattern for stereo recordings with broad spacial imaging. It features dual class-A FET amplifier design and has wide dynamic range, and superior low noise characteristics.

The MXL V63M microphone delivers high sensitivity for a silky high end while retaining a solid low end for detailed recordings. Encased in a heavy duty enclosure, the V63M Stereo mic is internally wired with Mogami wire for added clarity and features a balanced, transformerless output for low noise. Comes with a 10' 5-pin to Dual XLR stereo and a mic stand adapter.

Requires phantom power.

I am sorry about the "number and model" I gave you earlier. This is the one I got for FREE from Musician's Friend when I ordered an interface a couple of years ago that never worked at all.

I'm a voiceover guy on a budget. As I was building my home studio the first mic I bought was the workhorse Sure57, the second mic was a gift and it was the MXL V63M. Since then I collected a total of 7 mics and each time I go for a mic I can't seem to pass this one up. It's built like the truck I drive, it takes a punch, and sounds abount as full and smooth as a Texas sunrise. I don't have to do much processing and if your going for the Barry White sound this is the mic I'd recomend.

Thee V63ME greatly benefits IMO from removing the 2 inner layers of mesh on the grill.
It really opens up the mics sound and greatly reduces the harshness/eshiness that the mic can impart on certain (many voices).

You can do this yourself with a flat head jewelers screwdriver, a pair of needle-nose pliers, and some patience.
