Default CAD e300 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone Reviews

CAD e300 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone Description
Sweet vocal capture!

The CAD e300 is a Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone that captures transparent, airy uppers and mids, coupled with a rich, silky smooth low end. Combining lightning-fast transient response and pinpoint precision with an enormous upfront presence, the e300 offers uparalleled performance from critical studio tracking scenarios to live reinforcement. The 1.1" 24K gold-sputtered dual-diaphragm condenser capsule is hand dampened for consistent frequency response. A hi-pass filter features 6dB octave @ 80Hz, and a 20dB non-capacitive pad. The stainless/brass triple stage pop/EMI filter delivers unmatched ballistic stability, with high SPL characteristics and plosives control. Sophisticated laser trimmed op-amp circuitry provides increased management of fast transient response. Frequency response of 10Hz-20 kHz. Requires phantom power.

Quality: 10
This was the first mic I purchased back in the early 90's when it was first released. I also then owned a AKG 414 B ULS and a Neumann TLM 103. This mic blew me out of the water. I even spoke with their techs back in Ohio a number of times. Seems they use custom electronics in this model and it shows. It was very quiet, but man the richness and vibrant quality of sound this mic produced was more like those in the $1000+ price range. Today it can be had for $300 and is a virtual gift for that price range. I eventually sold all my gear due to financial difficulties in 1993 when I made a major move out of State. I sold it to a professional studio in the city where the guy also agreed it more than competed with mics he had in his locker that were well over a grand. If you are even considering this mic for vocal or acoustic instruments BUY it you can't go wrong

Reliability: 10

Overall Rating: 0
It would be foolish NOT to buy one of these as there is nothing to compare it to in the $300 price range which is typical of it's selling price.
