Default Audio-Technica AT4040 Large-Diaphragm Reviews

So I ordered this mic and just got it from musicians friend about 4 days ago. I also hooked it up with a Mogami gold plated cable for low noise and best quality.

The tone of this microphone is really completely amazing. it picks up every sound in front of it and thus far switching from the lesser quality dynamic mics i have been using in the past, this is such a big step in getting my home studio to produce some reputable sounding work.

if you go to audio technica's website you can listen to some samples of the 40 series microphones of both male and female vocals as well as some acoustic guitar samples. the 4060 is a noticeable improvement over the 40 but its also 3x the price for the most part and seriously, unless you really have some need to get it, if your spending that money you could probably go with a better company like blue, or a neumann.

great for the price (300) and even better quality
