Default Will an Acer One work???

hello everybody, I'm new to the recording scene but I love the process! I bought an Acer One about 4 months ago not planning on doing anything but web browsing until about a week ago. My band had a recording session with a friend and he had a really basic setup. This inspired me and I have the urge to do some recording of my own.

I only really plan on doing metal and hard rock stuff and I love Cubase. Is my smedium laptop capable?

From what I see, there seem to be two potential concerns. The first is the processor. The usual minimum is a pentium; don't know where the Atom processor fits in regard to capability. The second is that I don't see either a USB 2.0 or firewire interface to connect your interface.

It has three USB 2.0 ports, that wouldn't work with an interface? I was thinking of this-Buy TASCAM US-1641 USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Computer Interface | Audio Interfaces & Convertors | Audio Interfaces | Musician's Friend

Three USB's is two more than you need! The TASCAM might be a bit more than you need. To find out, go to the Home page and down on the left select the soundcard wizard to see which interfaces will meet your needs (and you might save a few bucks in the process).

yes, that is what I did and the TASCAM came up for me. Drums are very important to me in recording. If the drums don't sound great, I hate it; I also like to use Drumagog so I use 8 mics when recording drums.

So what problems am I looking at with that processor?

It's not made for anything taxing. You MIGHT get it to record two channels of audio. Possibly.

They're called Netbooks because they're designed for using the internet.

Yea I was going to say dont let anyone ever tell you that you only need (x#) of tracks at once. Go big first that way you dont have a bunch of junk laying around like I do, and then just end up buying what you should have in the first place, to handle what you need. If you are going to build a computer dont get to crazy as it doesnt take alot to run 8 simultanious tracks I am running a pentium 4 with 1gig and it tracks just fine through my firewire'd firestudio, and cubase. I rarely have a problem and when I do it isnt a big deal. Also I use alot of plug-ins too no bogging or latency problems at all
