Yeah I have had to resort to moving some programs to my lap top because I can not run my Line6 uax interface with the Lexicon Omega and I have been told to run Reason as a plug in because it too, wants to fight for the ASIO drivers and will not operate together. I have not been able to do much over the last couple of weeks because of an unexpected trip back home (11 hour drive to NY) so I am a bit behind. I also bought a new toy that I think I will be selling right away because I just got hit with a bunch of tuition hikes, so every time I get a new toy I get even more sidetracked..Off now to try to make some noise..

Hey Doug,

Would you be interested in working together over the internet? No sense in doing it all by yourself when you don't have to. Besides, having other people play on your music will give it more depth. I play guitar and bass and can sing. Whatever you want to do, dude!

I have no problem with getting something going over the internet with you. I just think you will find that I am very much an amateur because I have been doing this half hart-ed approach to making music over the last ten years. I would be more of a student for a while if you were still into it. I can chat with you more if you shoot me your e-mail, and we can discuss our styles and tools and all of that and see if we can make some noise, Thanks Doug

Crap Cleaner is a necessity for Windows, its free, easy to use wit a good interface that
just says CLEAN after you Analyse.I'm a tech,I have never known CCleaner from Safer
Computing-to make a mistake. You can back up but I never have;that program you mention is notorious malware, you are lucky it didn't find 176 problems & 'fix' 12,demanding $$$ to proceed & totally "Fix" the rest.A lot of people old& young are using
the FREE Windows alternative Linux-which unfortunately is Incompatable with Hardware
we use for evrything sound related, tho it has its own software.Another good program I
now recommend is Malwarebytes-it detects & rids a lot of malware.Sorry I couldn't
specifically address your problems with Windows, but it's not possible to get accurate
data & diagnose on the net.Could an MD diagnose from described symptoms & suggest a
cure?Would you want them to?Well In my considered opinion you need one of these
Chinese made heart monitors,& eat plenty garlic.Good health.

I've got a complete chapter in Put Your Together on how to avoid all of this crap right from the start. I have a feeling it would have saved you a good 4 years of frustration.

Doug, reinstall windows XP, 64 bit, Service Pack 3. If you know how to take care of it, windows is just as reliable and far more versatile than mac OSX - I've been running without antivirus for the last 6 months without any issues.

If you really want maximum performance for your audio, consider dual booting, one OS for internet browsing and all the other stuff and another one ONLY for audio, permanently disconnected from the internet.

Because I have never looked for any help (in more ways then one) I have been like an insane person never making music and always fixing and tweeking...MADDENING. I mean shit, enough is enough. I only promised my wife 5 years ago I would get her a copy of a song I wrote for her.

Now, I have a real need to just get my setup done and done right. My problems seem to be erratic behavior and conflicts with sound cards bla bla bla. I am sure 9 million people have asked the same stuff on here, but I need help so I can start learning my software once everything is stable and get on with it.

I have an HP Pavillion
xp svc pack 3
3 gig ram (actually 4 but only 3 shows?)
amd dual core 3800 1.8 ghz
e geforce 6200 vid card
a pci usb 2.0 card
krk rokit 8 monitors, sound friggin awesome.
line 6 ux1 guitar interface
axiom 49 controller
sonar 7 producer
fruity loops
reason 4
lexicon omega

And I dont have a crap load of plugins and or vsts loaded because I dont really understand how to make them work anyway. And I have a laptop so I have decided to dedicate the pc solely to making music....What the hell do I do now???? Stuff just never seems to work right and I have to start over everytime I set back down.

Please help, If your still reading my dissertation...Done

PS: I am just glad I stumbled upon this site today while I was surfing at work...I have great faith after reading some posts

some people have that characteristic
computers just dont like them

once upon a time
i tested computers at IBM
all i had to do was walk in the lab
where my test team was working
and the thing would fail
they swear it sensed my presence
and just quit working because of me
they even banned me from the lab
so they could finish the test
they brought the test log out
for me to read
so i didnt have to go in to do it
(and make the equipment fail again )

pipes)as intro for something,&trying to get V Twin sound on guitar with gear changes &
using slide in open G on low strings. So far so good,I use Vista with good sound card and
