There is no question that if you have a choice go XP. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sp3 does not improve audio recording performance and may possibly cause some problems. XP !

You don't detail the sound card,THE single most important element in recording. As to XP or Vista,XP is still easier to locate drivers for all software,& it seems the one you're more familiar with.Keep in mind it is an obsolete system which will be history verysoon.Windows 7 is out in Beta already so I'm testing it without getting carried away, but so far I can see what Vista would have been with more developement or a better run company.XP will be unofficially supported better than Micro$oft ever did so don't let me put you off.XP!!! |

Almost certainly XP. Aside from better support for your hardware, XP will use far less of your systems available resources to do completely unnecessary things. Windows 7 will be interesting, but definitely too early days to use it for audio at present. I wouldn't even consider it. Last edited by lessthanphil; 03-13-2009 at 12:04 PM. |

so, XP is better than vista... and sp2 is better than sp3 in audio... well so I think I'm gonna install xp sp2, wait windows 7 and see if it is better than xp in audio 'cause in performance the beta has already beaten vista and xp. so for now i think the best i can do is going with xp jeje I bought an m-audio fast track ultra.. I'm waiting for it to arive jeje. thnx a lot for your answers |

Until recently, I would also recommend XP. But I've changed my mind. Vista SP1 is very reliable. XP is history and it's support days are numbered. As long as you have enough memory (2GB minimum) in your computer, Vista is now the way to go. I use it myself. The problems that plagued Vista early on are resolved. It is a perfectly good platform for recording as long as you shut down the background tasks. Coming soon is Windows 7 which will obselete Vista. They've released a Beta but that's it. It gets good marks so far. You don't want to start with an O/S that is two versions behind. Vista today, Windows 7 tomorrow. |

hmmm :S :S :S :S :S thats the point men I wanna have the best performance I can.... XP is old but reliable, so thats the point cause 80% of people says "go with xp", but my pc runs vista like a charm :S Last edited by w1ll1a9m; 03-14-2009 at 04:03 AM. |

| Sorry but I and most others disagree completely. Even microsoft are sweeping Vista under the carpet by releasing Windows 7 so soon after Vista. Vista has been an immense commercial failure for a good reason - it isn't vey good.
