Unhappy Vista VST problems.....

Hey guys, hope someone here can offer me some advice.

I just bought a dell inspirion 1525 which runs vista home premium. It's processor is an intel dual core t5850 (2.16 + 2.17 ghz) It currently has 2038 mb of RAM. (I have another stick to upgrade to 3g but this doesn't seem to be the problem)

My interface is a Line6 toneport UX2.

I am running reaper and am experiencing short breaks in the audio( sounds like a short cd skip.) I don't really think it's hardware ( performance meters seem to indicate this), rather a problem that only occurs when using ANY VST or VSTi.

This will happen even with one or two tracks running.....

I never experienced this on my old machine running XP sp2, which had MUCH lower specs.

I have followed the advice from another thread which gave a link to optimizing vista for audio recording, but still no luck.

At a dead end.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Re: Vista VST problems.....

Had a similiar problem and a fellow over at another forum suggested this tool:
DPC Latency Checker
When I set this up and ran it the spike from my wireless connection showed
right away to be the problem, shut it off and the pops went away.
Great tool and it's "FREE"!
It will show other problems that can be tweeked.

Hope this helps.
stigg.

HP pav laptop Vista s/pk 1.
intel dual core 1.8 cpu. 3gig ram.
